The Fundació b_TEC works to attract other projects, groups and public and private energy research centers to create an area of excellence in research of international prestige

CLÚSTER D'EFICIÈNCIA ENERGÈTICA DE CATALUNYA (CEEC)

The CEEC was set up in 2008 with the support of ICAEN, Acc1ó and the Fundació b_TEC to make innovative integrated energy efficiency solutions available on the market and to encourage synergy between companies and bodies active in this area. The number of associated companies has grown to over 100 in 2014, taking part in research groups working in areas such as the infraestructure of charging points for electric vehicles, efficient mobility, smart grids and public lighting.

PLATAFORMA TECNOLÓGICA ESPAÑOLA DE EFICIENCIA ENERGÉTICA (PTE-EE)

The PTE-EE was founded in October 2008 by the Ministry of Science and Education with the collaboration of the Fundació b_TEC, which assumed the role of technical secretary. Companies and research centres have joined in recent years to work towards a common goal: promote R&D&i in energy efficiency technologies in the public, private and science sectors. 2014 has seen progress in the creation of a virtual space for collaboration and work in the area of thermal and electric equipment, regulation and control and the integration of systems.

INDUCIENCIA, PLATAFORMA TECNOLÓGICA DE LA INDUSTRIA DE LA CIENCIA

Launched at the end of 2011 and promoted by the Fundació b_TEC, which is in charge of the Fusion area, this is a workspace for collaboration between agents interested in the Science Industries in Spain. The aim is to decide together what the objectives of technological research and development should be in the mid to long term, with a clear market-oriented strategy to achieve a more committed, planned and structured setting for innovation in the sector.

THE CONFERENCE BARCELONA ENERGY GLOBAL CHALLENGES

The promotion and performance of knowledge transfer activities between university and business took place in the context of the UPC Foundation's courses to promote continuous training. The Barcelona Global Energy Challenges is an annual benchmark event promoted by b_TEC in collaboration with the MIT and the IREC. On 2014, the conference reached its 9th edition and was centered on the energy challenges and solutions facing us, with renowned speakers including some of the experts from MIT, such as Fikile R. Brushett, assistant professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at MIT. His research group focuses on accelerating the development of transformative electrochemical systems with an overarching goal of enabling sustainable energy technologies.
